鑒于中醫領域常用到古語表述，所以在翻譯時把握句子的含義，重新進行句讀劃分對翻譯尤為重要，此為“忘形”。例如一些漢英中醫名詞術語詞典內收錄了以下內容“五臟者，藏精氣而不泄”、“冬脈者，腎也”、“心者，君主之官”等，譯者在翻譯時首先要將文言文讀懂，找出其對應的白話文，并且翻譯成符合英文文法的通順語句。在這里，提醒大家要注意的是能看明白文章是翻譯的根本，翻譯成符合國外讀者能接受的語言風格是中醫翻譯的一大難題。
